Citing Sources in MLA Style: How to cite NEWSPAPERS

Basic guidelines for documentation according to the 8th edition of the MLA Handbook.

How to cite PRINT NEWSPAPERS

MLA Newspaper Article Citation

According to the 8th edition, information for a print newspaper should be basically the same as what is used for other periodicals.

Author's Last Name, First Name Middle Name or Initial. "Title of Source." Title of Container, Publication date, Location.

Example:

Brian, Brus. "Preservation Plan: OKC to Start Shaping Historic Site Guidelines." Journal Record [Oklahoma

         City], 31 Mar. 2016.

Slipke, Darla. "Public's Tips Can Be 'Missing Piece' in Crime Investigations." Oklahoman,

          22 Aug. 2016, 1A+.

If the city of publication is not included in the name of a locally published newspaper, add the city, not italicized, in square brackets after the name.

How to cite ONLINE NEWSPAPERS
