Library Budget: Action Items for Instructors

Introduction

Recommendations Actions

  • If your course materials contain links to full-text articles, citations, or saved searches in Academic Search Complete (ASC) or Business Source Complete (BSC), you'll need to replace these with links to Academic Search Premier or Business Source Premier. Access to ASC and BSC will end on Dec. 31, 2023.
    • Because Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier have fewer full-text journals, some content that was available in ASC and BSC may not exist in the Premier databases. If you need help locating an article from an alternate source, please contact us via Ask a Librarian or contact the liaison librarian for your department.
  • American Chemical Society Journals: Reduced access to the ACSJ collection begins on Jan. 1, 2024. If you're no longer able to access an ACSJ journal, the library may be able to get selected articles for you through our interlibrary loan service (ILL). Complete the ILL for Articles form and in most cases we'll be able to provide individual articles within 5 working days.
  • If your course materials have links to other resources that the library has had to cancel, librarians may be able to suggest alternate resources in some cases. Please contact us via Ask a Librarian or contact the liaison librarian for your department and we'll do our best to help.
  • RefWorks and other citation management tool users (e.g., Zotero, EndNote, etc.): If you have saved citations that contain links back to articles and citations in ASC, BSC, or any canceled database, these links will fail. Note, however, that RefWorks and Zotero will keep these citations in your account even if the citations' links to their sources no longer work.
  • Chairs and instructors for accredited programs: Please contact Mr. Jason Dupree if you need help assessing how these database cuts and downgrades may impact your accreditor’s expectations with respect to library resources.
